Treating and Consulting Organized Extreme Abuse

Recognizing and Addressing RAMCOA

Ritual Abuse, Mind Control, and Organized Abuse (RAMCOA) are critical and often overlooked areas within the mental health field. In a 1995 survey of 2709 members of the American Psychological Association (APA), 2292 cases of ritual abuse were reported (Bottoms, Shaver, & Goodman, 1993). Additionally, the volume of calls to help lines suggests there are tens of thousands of RAMCOA survivors, indicating the widespread and severe impact of these abuses.

This unfortunate reality represents a burgeoning field of study and clinical practice. With decades of experience, I began treating RAMCOA professionally eight years ago. My robust knowledge of patterns and strategies facilitates effective de-programming efforts, ensuring that this exploited population receives compassionate and appropriate care.

Consultation Services for RAMCOA

My consultation services for clinicians working with RAMCOA survivors include:

  • Assessment and Identification: Understanding and recognizing the signs of RAMCOA is crucial. I provide comprehensive assessments to correctly identify survivors and their unique needs.

  • Treatment Planning: I guide clinicians through developing individualized treatment plans that address the complex trauma associated with RAMCOA. This includes phase-oriented treatment, safety planning, and integration of therapeutic modalities.

  • De-Programming Strategies: Effective de-programming requires specialized knowledge. I offer strategies and techniques to help survivors reclaim their autonomy and dismantle harmful programming.

  • Ongoing Support and Supervision: Treating RAMCOA survivors should not be undertaken alone. I provide ongoing support and supervision, addressing countertransference issues, and helping navigate the challenges that arise in the therapeutic relationship

A New Paradigm for Mental Health

Understanding RAMCOA requires a paradigm shift in mental health. Traditional terms like hallucination and delusion often stigmatize individuals and obscure the true nature of their experiences. Instead, these symptoms can be seen as evidence of an environment that sought to control and manipulate, rather than nurture and love.

Misdiagnosis of trauma-based disorders as schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders can result in devastating outcomes. Victims may receive harmful treatments, excessive medications, and face long-term hospitalizations. In the legal arena, misdiagnosis can lead to incorrect insanity findings and forced conservatorships, further harming the victim.

Educational and Clinical Resources

To support clinicians in correctly diagnosing and treating RAMCOA, I offer educational resources and clinical guidelines:

  1. Differential Diagnosis: Guidelines to differentiate between trauma-based disorders and schizophrenia, reducing the likelihood of misdiagnosis.

  2. Trauma-Informed Care: Best practices for providing trauma-informed care to RAMCOA survivors, including recognizing and validating their experiences.

  3. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Understanding the legal implications and ensuring ethical treatment for RAMCOA survivors.
